Timisoara’s Highseat

‘Spiraling up the plant-covered structure, we should be reminded of the feeling of climbing trees back when they were kids.’

For the design of a gathering point for the city of Timisoara, the main focus was to stand out as an attractor, but merges with its context at the same time. Being located within the green lung of the city and due to its vertical orientation, the highseat has a great potential to serve as a cultural, social and urban focal point to attract people back to the park.

The goal was not to design a brand new shiny object for the park, but a self-evolving pavilion, that, after some time has passed, has the ability to become one with its location. Therefor the strongest and most capable plants will grow along on the structure and cover it after some time.

Romanian beech timber boards, 3cm thick and 30cm wide, will connect to a truss system that covers the spatial program, which is based on relaxation during the day and activation in the evening.
